Concord Joe is returning to Beaches Hotel in Thirroul on April 8. A fun, rocking, Sydney band – Concord Joe Concord Joe’s style of rock and roll is salt and peppered with a tinge of the blues. The set list includes lots of songs from their two albums along with great rock covers from John Fogerty, Carlos Santana, Tom Petty, Bad Company, and the Steve Miller Band – just to name a few. A great venue – Beaches Thirroul Beaches supports live music and we salute them for keeping live music alive. Bring some friends and make a night of it…. First bash of the skins and strings is at 8:30 pm. We keep rocking until at least midnight.
We have just been informed that at least one of our songs has been nominated as a finalist in the 2016 Music Oz Awards. We don’t know which one. We entered “Sell Out” in the rock category and “20 Hours of Texas” in the blues category. The Music Oz Awards celebrates and recognises unsigned and independent artists in Australia. In 2003 Ben was a finalist for his original tune, “Confrontation Blues” in the blues category. He still plays that song today as it’s a crowd favourite. As we get more details, we’ll let you know what’s up. There is an awards night and tickets are available, so if you want to, you can get aboard the Concord Joe blues train and enjoy the ride with us.
Ben’s words. Wendy’s typing. 🙂 Concord Joe is very excited to be playing at a fantastic venue: Beaches Thirroul. I’ve played a few times there myself now with various bands and the venue operator, Mark, runs a really professional music-orientated pub. Sundays in particular are focused predominantly on Rock and Blues acts and the pub goers at Beaches seem to relish classic blues and old-school rock. The venue itself is very big, cozy, has a great rock vibe, and from Mark, to the sound guy, to the bar staff, everyone seems to have a really great time. It’ll be nice to crank it up. 🙂 It’s just over an hour from Sydney to get there, and if you’re in the south already it’s in your backyard. We wanted to let you know about the gig ASAP so that you can plan your diaries in advance. It’s going to be a great gig for us, but even better if you are there, too. GIG DEETS: Sunday, August 21 – Beaches Hotel 272 Lawrence Hargrave Drive Thirroul Our first appearance at Beaches! 6:00-9:00 pm FREE ENTRY!
Words from Benny Joe: It was brought to my attention that to do a promotional video for a new song that a big budget was NOT paramount. I was told that if you have a good idea with just a camera and a computer you could knock something together. Sell Out is a song which talks about the music industry today with our tongues firmly in our cheek and I immediately thought of the iconic Queen film clip, Bohemian Rhapsody, as a starting point for our video So with a couple of lights, a torch, a table, a couple of chairs, a tripod, a camera, and some beer and tequila we were able to have a few laughs and create a home grown video for one of the songs off the new album, Gold Dust. We had a ball making it. And it was fun and easy to do. Our album is available to buy for $20 directly from us and is also on iTunes and Spotify and other places where we make $.0000001 per play. Or we can mail a signed copy to you for $25 in Australia. Please share the video and give us your feedback. Here’s some of the feedback we got already. “Like that I really do” – Jamie “Love It” Brilliant – Judie “Ha! Great stuff” – Paul “Love it HaHa so true” – Elora “Love it man. Nice torch effect” – Jake “I love it! Very clever” – Pam “Tooooo much fun!” – Carolyn “I smiled, chuckled and enjoyed […]
Hi! Wendy here. It took a day to recover from our amazing harbour cruise on Sunday. You were dancing the whole time – we loved it! We wanted to write something yesterday, but were just too buggered. Now it’s Christmas Eve and in an effort to avoid any shopping whatsoever, I think it’s my job to update this website. A much better alternative, don’t you think? Besides, you can easily shop from your computer or phone now anyway. The bad news is that Vinnie-Joe has broken his left foot (the good news is that it isn’t his right foot), and is out of commission for a few weeks. His doctors know how important work and play is to Vince, so we know they’re doing all they can to get him back on stage quickly. In the meantime, we’ve commandeered Mick O’Shea and Fab Omodei for a few of the gigs Vince can’t do. Both are GREAT drummers and both doing their best to do Vinnie-Joe proud. Another big announcement is that we have launched a new app. An official Concord Joe App. It’s a new world out there and we know all of our fans have phones and we want all of our fans to be able to share Concord Joe easily with friends, family, and fellow rockers. The App is a simple way for us to share songs, lyrics, videos, pictures, gigs, and more. We will be offering special pre-releases to people who have the App. App people will also get exclusive releases and […]
